Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ages do you serve?
We serve children ages 3-5 years old by September 30 of the school year for which they are enrolled.
  • What are your operating hours?
We follow the Montgomery County Public Schools schedule, with some exceptions. We normally open after MCPS' first day of school and school ends shortly before MCPS' last day. Generally, if MCPS is closed for holidays, teacher workdays, and inclement weather, we are also closed. BUMP is closed during the summer, however we do offer a part-time summer camp approximately 3 weeks during the summer. New for the 2025-26 School Year! We are expanding our hours to accommodate more families in our community. Our hours are shifting for half-day to 9:00am to 12:15pm. We will be open from 9:00am to 3:00pm for full-day students. A minimum number of students must sign up for our full-day offering in order for us to be open for these times. We will continue to offer early drop-off beginning at 8:30am (pre-registration is required).
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
We only accept electronic payments, with the exception of check or cash payments prior to the start of the school year for the full year's prepaid tuition. In order to keep our annual tuition increase low, beginning with the 2025-26 school year (August 1, 2025), we have made the difficult decision to no longer accept credit card payments without an additional fee to families who use that payment type. When paying by credit card, you will be assessed an additional fee of approximately 3%. ACH transfers from your bank accounts will remain free of extra charges for all our families. Discounts will remain for full-year prepaid tuition, church members, and families with multiple children enrolled at BUMP.
  • What is your policy for inclement weather?
Generally, BUMP operates on the same schedule as Montgomery County Public Schools. When MCPS closes due to inclement weather, BUMP will also close. However, if MCPS is delayed by one hour, BUMP will open on time. When MCPS is delayed by two hours, BUMP will open one hour late. The MCPS closing hotline is 540-382-5102. BUMP will also post Facebook messages with reminders.
  • Do you have a sick policy?
Given the current environment with COVID-19, it is especially important to keep your children at home when they exhibit any symptoms of illness. Your child should remain home if they have: fever; diarrhea; vomiting; rash or discharge from eyes, ears, or nose; or any other contagious disease. Children should be fever-free without medication and should not have any vomiting or diarrhea episodes for 24 hours before returning to school. If your child becomes ill at school, they will be isolated from their classmates, and we will call you to pick them up. Rest assured that we will provide comfort and love to them while we await your arrival.
  • Do you provide snack?
We provide a small snack daily to the children around the middle of the school day. We do ask that you provide a labeled, filled water bottle for your child each day.
  • Does my child have to be potty trained?
While we recognize that accidents will happen, children enrolled in our program should be fully toilet trained.
  • How often do you have Chapel?
We are a faith-based preschool and gather for Chapel in the sanctuary one time per month. Between Chapel sessions, our Pastors and Ministers visit classrooms to read books, sing songs, tell stories, and sometimes even engage in a friendly game of tag on the playground!
  • How can I financially support the school?
Because we operate as a not-for-profit preschool, our budget is tight. We do have one or two fundraisers each school year. Our teachers will always graciously accept supply donations to their classrooms. If you would like an easy way to support BUMP while grocery shopping, we do participate in the Kroger Card Community Rewards Program. Visit Kroger.com and log into your account; under "Community Rewards" you can search for BUMP by name or by Organization Number (MP876).
