Blacksburg United Methodist Preschool was originally established in 1949 as the first Kindergarten in Montgomery County. When Virginia legislated public Kindergarten in 1974, we became a preschool! The 2024-25 school year marks our 50th year as a preschool and our 75th year as an early childhood education staple in our community! Celebrate with us and help us continue the tradition of serving children in the New River Valley!

Open House

Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2pm-4pm

We invite you to drop in to our open house and explore changes and improvements we've made to the preschool over the years. Experience the vibrancy and joy the teachers have created within our walls. We look forward to welcoming alumni, families, church members, friends, and those who may be interested in exploring our school for the first time.

Endowment

With your help, the BUMP Board aims to establish a permanent endowment of $50,000 to help solidify the program and continue to serve our community. Annual earnings from the endowment will help offset operating expenses, provide tuition assistance, and fund improvements to the school. If you've been touched by BUMP in any way, we're asking you to consider a donation to support the vitality of this community ministry.

Improve

We continue to prioritize improvements to our spaces. Through past support and generosity, we've been able to make improvements to the facility, including:

Refreshed rooms, including paint and furniture
New flooring throughout the Education Building
Improved security doors
New and brighter lighting

While we celebrate 50 years as a preschool, we recognize the United Methodist Women of BUMC who paved the way for BUMP in 1949 and also celebrate 75 years of early childhood education. Without their insight and leadership, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Since 1974, we have served over 2,500 preschool children and their families!
