BUMP began as a preschool in 1974 after Virginia legislated public kindergartens. The preschool was revamped from serving Kindergarten-aged children to children from ages three to five. Since 1974, BUMP has served over 2,500 children and families. This year, we celebrate 50 years as a preschool!

We continue to evolve and improve

​

Through generous support from tuition and fees, contributions, and church support, we have been able to make many improvements to our facilities over the past few years. Some of these improvements include:

 

Refreshed rooms, including paint and furniture

New flooring throughout the Education Building

Improved security doors

New and brighter lighting

​

We have also begun hosting more events throughout the year to engage our families, including a Christmas program and cookie bar and a Spring/Graduation program and picnic. We invite you to engage with us in these offerings.

We recognize the past

​

While we celebrate 50 years as a preschool, we recognize the United Methodist Women of BUMC who paved the way for the preschool in 1949 by establishing one of the first kindergarten programs in Montgomery County, Virginia. Without their insight and leadership, we wouldn't be where we are today.
