BUMP began as a preschool in 1974 after Virginia legislated public kindergartens. The preschool was revamped from serving Kindergarten-aged children to children from ages three to five. Since 1974, BUMP has served over 2,500 children and families. This year, we celebrate 50 years as a preschool!

You can help us to continue to thrive and serve our community

The BUMP Board will establish an endowment to help solidify the program and continue to serve our community. Our endowment fundraising goal is $50,000. Once we reach our goal, the endowment will be established. The annual earnings from the endowment will help offset the operating expenses of the preschool, provide tuition assistance, and fund improvements to the school. If you've been touched by BUMP in any way, we are asking you to consider a donation to help us continue this vital community ministry. We continue to evolve and improve

​

Through generous support from tuition and fees, contributions, and church support, we have been able to make many improvements to our facilities over the past few years. Some of these improvements include:

 

Refreshed rooms, including paint and furniture

New flooring throughout the Education Building

Improved security doors

New and brighter lighting

​

We have also begun hosting more events throughout the year to engage our families, including a Christmas program and cookie bar and a Spring/Graduation program and picnic. We invite you to engage with us in these offerings.

We recognize the past

​

While we celebrate 50 years as a preschool, we recognize the United Methodist Women of BUMC who paved the way for the preschool in 1949 by establishing one of the first kindergarten programs in Montgomery County, Virginia. Without their insight and leadership, we wouldn't be where we are today.
